Today on After work crafting theater I show you how to make a Wet Palette !
So what is a wet palette? I am glad you asked! A wet palette is a type palette that you can use to paint with and it has a lot of really cool benefits! When using a regular palette paint dries quickly and you cant get up and go do other things with out your paint drying out. I personally have kids and it never fails when I decide I am going to paint the moment when I place paint onto my palette they need something. One of the main benefits of a wet palette is you paints stay wet for quite a bit longer. In a sealed palette such as the ones I will be showing you how to make today it can last for several days with out drying out. This is great for when you finally get just the right shade blended. Also since you are not wasting paint due to it drying out you save money. So how do I make one of these bad boys you say?!?! Well lets get down to it!!!
Here are the tools you will need for this project:
- X-ACTO Knive
Supplies you will need for this project:
• Sponge Cloth Found at Groceries store cost $1.97
• A Swank Craft Box found at your local craft Store cost $1.49
• Parchment Paper Found at Groceries store cost $3.48 for the roll this will be enough to last a really really long time.
• Distilled Water. Cost $.88 You want to make sure you are not using Tap water as it can have minerals and other nastiness that can make your paint act funky and jack up your brushes over time.
So now that you have every thing you need lets get Crafting!
Get out your sponge cloth and cut a section to fit inside your craft box. I like to use two layers for this.
Step 2 trace and cut out a piece of sponge cloth to fit inside of the box.
Step 3 use the cut sponge cloth as a template to cut out pieces of parchment paper.
Step 4 Place the sponge cloth into the craft box and wet it down thoroughly and drain excess water from the box as needed. Smooth out parchment paper on top of the sponge paper and you are ready to go!
That’s all there is to it! Hope you guys get some use out of this!
Total Cost $7.82 and that’s with enough parchment paper to last a life time lol
